The Paediatric Anaesthesia Fellowship of the University of Nairobi, Kenya

The Paediatric Anaesthesia Fellowship program at University of Nairobi, Nairobi, Kenya was launched in 2013. One of only three formal paediatric anaesthesia training schemes on the African continent, it is funded by ImPACT Africa and the Society for Pediatric Anesthesia via the World Federation of Societies of Anaesthesiologists. The program trains two to three physician anaesthetists per year, one from Kenya, and the others from other sub-Saharan African countries. The cursus is one year in duration and includes exposure to Paediatric General Surgery (6½ months), PICU (1 month), NICU (1 month) Cardiothoracic Surgery (1 month), and neurosurgery and orthopaedic surgery (2 months).
